In most of the games Kaizer Chiefs have played this season, they have struggled to keep clean sheets, even with changes in the goalkeeping department.
Former Amakhosi striker Katlego 'Killer' Mphela believes the club made a mistake in moving on from Itumeleng Khune before securing a proper successor, as they had successfully done in the past.

Speaking to Soccer Laduma, Mphela highlighted how Chiefs once had a strong culture of goalkeeping succession, which he feels has now been lost.
"In the past Chiefs never used to struggle with goalkeepers. They usually didn't buy goalkeepers even if the first choice was leaving or retiring. Remember when Brian Baloyi left Rowen Fernandez took over and when Fernandez left Khune took over," Mphela told the Siya crew.
"Now Bruce Bvuma was supposed to be taking over from Khune but I think they have lost that culture and that's why the goalkeeping department is a problem now. I think they should go back to the way they used to do things and develop their own goalkeepers. That's the Kaizer Chiefs culture."

The former Bafana Bafana striker urged the club to consider signing a goalkeeper in the upcoming January transfer window.
"Yes, they can sign a winger and a striker in January, but they should also look at bringing in a goalkeeper. That department needs strengthening. Some of the games the team has lost have been partly due to the mistakes from the goalkeepers, irrespective of who was in goal. So if they can strengthen the last line of defence it would be great for the team.
"The club should give young Bontle Molefe a chance. He is young but good," Mphela added.
