With the season already underway, the Siya crew looks at the Kaizer Chiefs players who are in the final year of their contracts, with the pressure of having to deliver to secure new deals.
Amakhosi are set to kickstart their season with a clash away from home to Marumo Gallants on the opening weekend of the Premiership next month.

While many are fighting to get into the starting line-up for the clash, there's a bigger picture too for those who are aware that they are in the final year of their contracts.
Captain Yusuf Maart is in the final year of his contract with the Soweto giants. He joined the Soweto giants on a three-year deal from Sekhukhune United and has been one of the key figures in the middle of the park. It's understood that new head coach Nasreddine Nabi is a big fan of Maart and sees the player as someone who fits into his way of playing. There is an option to extend in Maart's contract.
Another key member of the squad who is in the final year of his contract is versatile defender Reeve Frosler. The former Bidvest Wits player is valued at Naturena, but a decision on his future is only expected to be made in the second half of the campaign.

Midfielder George Matlou has a big season ahead of him, after Amakhosi exercised the option on his contract, despite him not featuring much throughout his time at Naturena. The midfielder will be aware that he might not get another extension.
Edmilson Dove and Ranga Chivaviro are also in the final year of their respective contracts and this will be a decisive campaign for them. The disadvantage for Dove is that he is injured and he is expected to be out for a long term.
