Dona speaks retirement
Having represented two of the three biggest clubs in the country such as Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, Teko Modise's retirement after the 2018/19 season was a sad day for many fans.
Although Modise is still involved in the beautiful game, working as a commentator and a pundit for SuperSport and being an ambassador for Sundowns, he's certainly blaze his own trail since calling time on professional football.
He's works with brands such as Samsonite South Africa, NJR Jewellers, Hollywoodbets, PUMA as well as Nedbank and Heineken to name a few — making his name as a brand and earning big bucks years after retiring.
He told BET Africa's Candice Modiselle on what was going through his mind when he decided to retire from football, aged 36. He also explained the "scary" jump from being a baller to a businessman.
"I was at a club [Cape Town City] when I decided to retire, we had just won a cup [MTN8] and I really felt fulfilled at the time, that there's nothing more for me to win. I think the passion, from that night, was gone for me to play football again.
"I remember making those calls to my family, that same night, with music in the background, telling them and even my manager at that time that I'm retiring at the end of the season," he told Modiselle on BET's Beatz Rhymez show.

Modise added that no one believed him when he'd made the decision to retire after that MTN8 final in 2018 and kept quiet for the rest of the season until it was officially announced it in 2019.
