The story
Hunt's 1000th game as a top-flight coach with SuperSport United being interrupted at half-time did not stop Bafana legends from different eras, Gaxa and Tinkler in paying homage to him.
After Christian Saile's early goal for SuperSport was equalized by Velemseni Ndwandwe for Arrows, the match was paused due to load shedding before being suspended.
It was an unfortunate end to a day that was all about the four-time league winner, who received a special plaque from his employers and a guard of honour from both sides before kick-off.
Former Cape Town City boss, Tinkler was on offer to give his flowers to his contemporary and hopes to one day achieve the same milestone as head coach.
"It's a massive achievement for Gavin. One thousand games in the PSL, not many coaches achieve that. Hopefully, one day, I'll manage to do it. We've both been coaches now for a long, long time," stated Tinkler, admitting there's no love lost between him and on the field.
"The rivalry has always been there. Off the field, we're mates, but on the field we have a go at each other. That's the type of character he is. He wears his heart on his sleeve, the way he coaches is the way he played," added the former Orlando Pirates coach.
Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns fullback, Gaxa, who played under the tutelage of Hunt at SuperSport United shared some wonderful words to his former mentor.
