The story
Former SuperSport United winger, Shandre Campbell, explained why professional football was the only career path he was willing to explore.
Campbell, who joined Matsatsantsa's youth structures at the age of six, says he was destined to become a footballer and that it's all he's ever wanted to do as a full-time.
Speaking on the set of his shared GQ South Africa cover shoot for the August/September issue, Campbell told SuperSport Unplugged host, presenter, Fiso Mazibuko how he always knew he wanted to be a footballer:
"I knew I was going to play football actually. As soon as I saw the ball when I was six, I knew that I had something. Because everything else? it's not working out for me," joked the teenager, adding: "I can't like, school hammered me, but some of us still managed to get a bursary for school," says the young baller, bragging playfully.
It's been a month since Campbell made the switch to Club Brugge KV, where he'll start off at their reserve team, Club NXT in the Challenger Pro League, Belgian's second tier.
With the promise he's already shown on the pitch under Gavin Hunt in the PSL, it's no doubt that the sky is the limit for 19-year-old, who hopes to fulfill his potential in Europe.
