The story
Local reports indicate that the future of Royal AM is becoming increasingly uncertain following a damaging court ruling involving SARS.
The Betway Premiership club is facing major turmoil, primarily due to a massive R40 million debt owed by owner Shawn 'MaMkhize' Mkhize, creating significant financial instability and putting the club's existence at risk.
Earlier this month, the PSL took the rare step of suspending all fixtures involving Royal AM as the crisis deepened.
After a short court battle, the ruling has decreed that the club must be sold to settle its financial obligations. With the looming threat of liquidation, supporters did not hold back in reacting to the news on social media:

There's nothing sad about the death of Royal AM. This is the same club that gave players bonuses ka di brown envelopes. The same club that insults pro footballers by fielding Andile Mpisane. Their death is to be celebrated, of you ask me. https://t.co/UH6QkpEfB9

I hope whoever buys Royal AM, will consider returning Bloemfontein Celtic to its rightful home and restoring a beloved piece of South African football heritage.??I miss these scenes: pic.twitter.com/pzL3BtMksB

I still say, the PSL finds itself in this position because they were cowards in 2021 when Royal AM decided to boycott the playoffs. Iron Duke even mentioned in the presser that they were under pressure because the league had to start. That's why they had to facilitate that sale.

The Royal AM owners have showed no respect for the law or for football, so it can't be a sad day for football. The victims are the players and technical team who've lost their livelihoods because of the owner's actions. https://t.co/kPIXiPQwl5

Dr President Motsepe must buy that Royal AM n move it to Bloemfontein to be our B team

I have no sympathy for Royal AM. From the start, it was clear the club lacked the right intentions to be a key figure in local football. It was always more about the owners than the sport itself. This should be a hard lesson for the PSL going forward.
