Yeye had to ask fans as far back as 2015 to stop calling him Beyonce. In an interview on SABC 1's Zaziwa with host Pearl Modiadie, Yeye mentioned that he doesn't like the nickname and wishes people would stop using it.
"Sometimes people think I'm rude because I don't respond when they call me 'Beyonce', I don't like that name and I wish they would stop using it', he said.
Even when asked about the name's origins, he responded: "I don't know why they call me that, I just don't like it," he said.
