The story

Relebohile Mofokeng came on in the dying stages of stoppage-time to make his national team debut in Bafana Bafana's 3-1 win over Zimbabwe in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

The jam-packed Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein gave Mofokeng the best possible reception a youngster could receive, as the crowd cheered for him long before he was introduced to the action.

Wearing jersey number 3 like his idol, Thembinkosi Lorch did at Orlando Pirates, Mofokeng ran onto the pitch wearing a bright smile that lit up the Toyota Stadium.

The introduction of Mofokeng that topped what was a perfect Tuesday night for Hugo Broos' men, with the Belgian revealing after the match that the introduction of the teenager was in response a request from captain, Ronwen Williams.

Williams' gesture and Teboho Mokoena kicking the ball out of play to speed up Mofokeng's substitution, shows that the players were just as excited as the fans to see the dynamic starlet on the field.
