The story
Polokwane City coach Phuti Mohafe is gearing up for the start of the Betway Premiership season, which kicks off on Saturday, 14 September.
Rise and Shine will open their league campaign against AmaZulu at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium at 15:00 and when speaking to the media at the Betway Premiership launch, Mohafe has urged supporters to throw their weight behind his team.
Polokwane finished eighth last season, and Mohafe reckons the support of their fans helped to get his side to the MTN8, where they were knocked out by Mamelodi Sundowns in the quarter-finals last month.
The Polokwane City tactician wants the backing of the club's supporters at home this season and promised them an exciting brand of football to enjoy.
"Rise and Shine, we've made it through with your support and we are still looking for that support. We qualified for the MTN8 because of you and you stood behind us," Mohafe tells the PSL's media team.
The 50-year-old highlighted the club's ambition to improve from last season's efforts and with the success story of Bafana Bafana's Oswin Appolis, Mohafe wants to see more PLK City ballers in the national team set-up.
"This season, we promise that we want to improve from last season's position. We want to grow as a team. We want to take more players to the national team, and we want you to come and see the new players we have acquired. We promise, this season, you will see a good brand of football," shares Mohafe.
