The story
Kaizer Chiefs boss, Nasreddine Nabi, took to Instagram to share an appreciation post to his employers, the Khosi Nation, and most importantly, his players.
The Glamour Boys defied odds in Sunday's come-from-behind win over Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld, showing immense character to earn a spot in their first Nedbank Cup final since 2019.
It's safe to say that it's been a tough first season for the Tunisian mentor in the PSL, boasting a mixed record of six draws, 11 wins and as many losses in the 28 matches he's overseen as Chiefs’ head coach.
Sunday's win not only provided a much-needed confidence boost for Chiefs going into the latter stages of the league season, but also gave them a glorious opportunity to break their lengthy trophy drought.
"We all know this season has been a tough one. That's why today, my pride in this team, our phenomenal fanbase, the management, and the board is even greater. Most importantly, to my players, on Sunday you showed immense character, resilience, and dedication against one of Africa's best teams," read the caption to Nabi’s Instagram post, featuring a picture of the players, coaches, staff and club management in the changeroom at Loftus.
Nabi also did not want to take credit for Sunday's victory, with the 59-year-old elaborating that it was down to the players' application, professionalism and desire to get a win over the more-fancied Masandawana.
"You have faced criticism head-on and applied yourselves with such professionalism and heart. The sacrifices you have made, some playing through pain, do not go unnoticed. You deserve all the credit for Sunday’s victory!" wrote Nabi.
