Erasmus Reveals All In Honest Interview

Erasmus Reveals All In Honest Interview

Orlando Pirates baller Kermit Erasmus spoke to an online lifestyle magazine as a cover star about his life off the pitch and being multilingual. Check it out!

What's the story?

Kermit Erasmus recently spoke to Nounouche Magazine as one of the six cover stars and covered a myriad of topics, including his life off the pitch and the languages he speaks.

Erasmus featured on Nounouche's digital cover alongside Grant Kekana and other South African sports stars for their Youth Month issue.

Erasmus on his off-field life

The experienced forward sat down with Nounouche recently to speak about a host of topics regarding football, his inspirations, his late father as well as what he gets up to off the field and being multilingual.

The 32-year-old is a busy body off the pitch. If he's not promoting products from Lucky Lekgwathi's Grootman Restaurant, he's linking up with artists such as Zooci Coke Dope and Marcus Harvey.

"I am into things that have nothing to do with being a footballer. I love food, fashion, cars and clothing. I love to relax and chill out. I think about ideas I can create and bring to life off the field.

"I try to keep my mind off my actual job so people can see I am human, into normal things that people didn't expect. I love hanging out with friends, playing video games. I am a sucker for fashion and good food," says Erasmus.

Erasmus describes himself as a simple person off the pitch, with a relaxed lifestyle:

"It's not complicated at all. I am very simple and I think a lot of people will be surprised by that," he says.

A multilingual star

Having played his football in France, Portugal, Sweden and Holland for Feyenoord, Rennes, and Lens to name a few, it's safe to say that Erasmus has been exposed to a healthy variety of cultures during his football career.

Playing in those different countries allowed him to learn some French and Dutch, and the Gqeberha-born star is also fluent in isiZulu.

"If you speak to me in person, the opinion of what you have of me would be different. Curiosity keeps people tuned in," says Erasmus regarding his multilingual skills.

It's clear that Erasmus gone above and beyond to adapt to the various clubs and environments he's been exposed to. He once told Marawa Sports World that he learnt isiZulu at Pirates to accommodate his teammates.

"Most of my teammates are not good in speaking English. So, I had to learn how to speak IsiZulu so that we could communicate better. I switch to four languages a day," he said on Robert Marawa's Sports Show.
