The story
As the most followed South African football club on social media, the Khosi Nation shakes whenever Kaizer Chiefs make an announcement online.
The club's Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung and Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr. appeared on Thabiso Mosia's Radio 2000 show on Thursday evening to chat about the upcoming season, what's happening behind the scenes and touched on how they feel about Chiefs fans online.
"The Twitter streets are rough," exclaimed Jessica on the show, when asked about who runs Chiefs' Twitter/X account and who does the blocking on the platform.
Motaung Jr. mentioned how happy he is to see the passion from the Khosi Nation on social media, but
"The Twitter streets are very different, but we know they [Chiefs fans] come from a good place and they are very passionate and it's good to hear them out. I know that they love the team a lot, with everything. If you look at the support they give the team, the comments and how they also protect the brand...
"The banter that's there, I wouldn't even know where to start. So they really represent that brand in the best way," shared a diplomatic Motaung Jr, with Jessica Motaung giving a clearer idea as to why the club chooses to block some users online, noting:
"Sometimes we have to tone down the noise, to focus on the execution, it's not that we're ignoring but sometimes we have to take a focal a make sure we are executing."
