With Mamelodi Sundowns reportedly getting closer to sealing a move for Argentine star Matias Esquivel, here's a look at some South American couples he and his family could strike up a solid friendship with in the Dstv Premiership.
The story
Moving to a new league in a foreign country can be difficult for some players, as they often need time to adjust to a new environment and language. Therefore, family tends to play an important role in helping the individual adjust to a new life, which often eventually allows the footballer to start playing well on the pitch.
The PSL has a rich history with South American imports, as many have found success in the South African topflight over the years. Some past examples include Jose Torrealba, Leonardo Castro, and Ricardo Nascimento, while some like Junior Mendieta and Gaston Sirino are active footballers in the league.

What has been undeniably clear about players of South American descent is that they truly recognise the importance of family. The recent Christmas period has been a shinning example of this, as Mendieta and Sirino charmed their followers with some wholesome family pictures.
The two aforementioned players are likely to help the incoming Esquivel and his family get used to life in South Africa. While Sirino is from Uruguay, Mendieta is also from Argentina, which could potentially make things easier for the the former Stellenbosch talisman to connect with his impending arrival.
It's important to note that the deal for the 24-year-old is not complete, in fact, Downs boss Rulani Mokwena recently gave a coy response when asked about the player.
"Argentinian? Oh, you seem to know more than me," Mokwena said, according to the SABC. "I know absolutely nothing as I sit here."
Regardless of this, social media remains on a frenzy about the rumoured signing, with some suggestions that Esquivel is viewed as potential Erwin Saavedra at Chloorkop.
Nevertheless, the playmaker wouldn't be too lonely when he settles on Mzansi shores, as there's a strong South American contingent in Tshwane, including Marcelo Allende.
Esquivel and his wife Cande share two children with each other. What is perhaps more ironic is also the fact that Mendieta, also represented Lanus in the past.
