The story
Bundesliga side FC Augsburg wrapped up their first ever tour to South Africa with a 2-1 loss to TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday, bidding a wholesome goodbye to the Mpumalanga province after the encounter.
The club spent an eventful 10 days in Mzansi, after receiving an invitation to take part in the Mpumalanga Premier's International Cup.
The German side pipped Tanzania's Young Africans (Yanga SC), 2-1, in their first game before Saturday's narrow loss to Sead Ramovic's men.
After the game, the Augsburg players displayed a large banning written: 'Siyabonga Mpumalanga', will similar illustrations seen on their off-field pre-season merch, containing Esther Mahlangu-inspired illustrations and Ndebele traditional prints.
Before they left for the airport, the players, coaches and club staff were given a lovely sendoff by the ANEW Resort White River employees, who posed for group photo with the Augsburg group.

This pre-season tour was more than about preparing for the 2024/25 campaign, Augsburg made the most of their time in South Africa by doing some outreach work in Mbombela and launching their new Away kit!
Augsburg had the brilliant idea of revealing their new Green Away kit by Italian sportswear brand, Mizuno, at the Kruger National Park on Friday, before debuting it against The Rockets on Saturday.
