SCOUT REPORT
Orlando Pirates coach Andile Zulu has told Soccer Laduma what he liked about the 18-year-old Ebhayi FC midfielder.
What stood out to you the most about Songela?
Songela is a midfielder, a box-to-box player. He can read the game well. he has a good understanding of his position. He knows when not to go up. And then he is able to anticipate the moment of the game to say, "the pace of the game has changed, now we need to attack, now we need to slow the pace". He is able to read the game well, his understanding of the game, to say "now the team is losing, what is required? What are the requirements? What do we need to do?". I think he is a good midfielder.
Were you impressed by Ebhayi's story?
I think they did great! They gave teams big challenges. It was not only one player they had [who was good], they had plenty good players. They did well as a team!
Who could we compare Songela to?
I think Yusuf Maart from Kaizer Chiefs. He even takes long range shots from outside the box. I think Maart is able to identify when the keeper is outside of the box.
