Stellenbosch FC have beaten Mamelodi Sundowns to the DStv Diski Challenge title with a thrilling win over Golden Arrows on the final day of the season.
Sundowns had put the pressure on Stellenbosch after thrashing Moroka Swallows 6-0 earlier on Saturday morning to put themselves on top.
All Stellies needed to secure the title was a point, but they got off to a poor start when Golden Arrows took the lead on 29 minutes through Samukelo Mlaba.
The lead was doubled a few minutes later via the boot of captain Sandile Ndlovu.
The Western Cape outfit did give themselves some hope shortly after the interval as Ethan Felix found the back of the net, before Mervin Boji levelled matters after the hour mark.
Arrows did restore their lead in the 71st minute through Simthandile Sishi's own goal, but Stellenbosch had the final say after Boji equalised once again.
The day belonged to Boji, who completed his hat-trick with seven minutes to take his tally to 14 goals for the campaign, while handing Stellies the title.
Mamelodi Sundowns 6-0 Moroka Swallows
Mamelodi Sundowns missed out on the title in a dramatic final matchday in spite of a 6-0 hammering of Moroka Swallows on Saturday morning at Tsakane Stadium.
The sides went to the break deadlocked but Siyabonga Mabena gave Sundowns the lead eight minutes from the break.
Kutlwano Letlhaku doubled the lead for the Brazilians three minutes later and Keabetswe Ramotsei made it 3-0 on the hour-mark.
Ramotsei made it 4-0 for Masandawana moments later and grabbed his brace.
Sinethemba Badela's charges were running riot as they made it 5-0 with 20 minutes to go and Jerome Karelse made it 6-0 in the dying minutes.
Sundowns missed out on the title by three points after champions Stellenbosch edged Golden Arrows in a seven-goal thriller.
Cape Town City 1-0 Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs ended their season with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Cape Town City on Saturday morning at Malta Park Sports Complex.
Amakhosi finished the season in fifth spot, equal on points with the Citizens, who ended up in sixth position.
Polokwane City 2-1 Orlando Pirates
Ten-man Orlando Pirates' three-game winning run came to an end after a 2-1 loss to Polokwane City in the final matchday on Saturday morning at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
City grabbed an early lead but Pirates equalised early in the second stanza through Masemola.
The Buccaneers were reduced to ten men on the hour-mark after Jabulani Mokone was sent off.
Rise and Shine snatched the winner in the last minute.
Pirates finished the season in third spot while Polokwane ended at the bottom of the table.
AmaZulu 1-5 SuperSport United
SuperSport United ended their season on a high after trouncing AmaZulu 5-1 on Saturday morning at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
Tshegofatso Modise, Owen Ramunasi, Kabelo Selowa, Sifiso Mazibuko and Bohlale Ngwato were all on the scoresheet for SuperSport, as they ended their season in fourth spot on the log.
