Emmanuel Letlotlo continued his scoring run, by pulling one back for Chiefs just before the break, before Bongani Ndulula reduced the deficit again shortly after the halftime break.
Chiefs then leveled matters through Benny Malope's free-kick in the 49th minute, before Bandile Shandu restored Maritzburg's lead in the 70th minute.
However, AmaKhosi grabbed another equaliser a minute later, when Letlotlo completed his brace to ensure both sides earn a share of the spoils.
