Pirates made their intentions known as early as the first minute, with Letsie Koapeng blasting into an empty net to give Bucs the lead.
AmaTuks struggled to create any chances in the opening 20 minutes but leveled matters in the 28th minute courtesy of a powerful finish from Zwane, after some poor defending from Pirates.
Koapeng nearly got his and Pirates' second after the 30-minute mark but his powerful effort from distance crashed against the crossbar, before Siyanda Ngubo headed the rebound over.
AmaTuks then surprised everyone in the Kings Zwewllethini Stadium, Botshelo Mfulwane popped up at the back post to slot past Zikala a minute after the halftime break.
AmaTuks then added a third in 52nd minute as Maruping took advantage of some poor marking by the Pirates defence to head home at the back post.
The Pretoria based outfit was not done there, with Denver Mukamaba giving AmaTuks a fourth goal with a fine low strike from 20-yards out.
Thabo Rakhale pulled a goal back for Pirates in the 81st minute, the winger showed great composure to slot home from a tight angle but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation.
Mukamba then rounded off the scoring for Amtuks in stoppage time, converting a penalty to claim his second of the game.
