Bucs Hammer Sundowns In Top-Of-The-Table Clash

Orlando Pirates 4-1 Mamelodi Sundowns

Orlando Pirates thrashed Mamelodi Sundowns 4-1 to move top of the DStv Diski Challenge standings on Sunday afternoon.

Kutlwano Letlhaku opened the scoring for Sundowns within the first ten minutes but Mpumelelo Ndaba levelled matters for Pirates two minutes later after he combined with Mohau Nkota.

Nkota gave the Buccaneers the lead on 73 minutes from the penalty spot after he was brought down in the box and Lulama Nxumalo opened a two-goal cushion for Joseph Makhanya's charges with nine minutes remaining from Nkota's cut-back.

Nkota put Pirates out of sight with four minutes remaining and completed his brace.

Makhanya's troops went one point clear at the top of the table while Sundowns dropped down to third, two points behind.

Cape Town City 1-1 Golden Arrows

Cape Town City and Golden Arrows reopened their campaign with a 1-1 draw on Sunday morning at Malta Park.

Jody Ah Shene gave City an early lead but Samukele Mlaba levelled matters for Arrows on the stroke of half-time.

Moroka Swallows 1-3 Sekhukhune United

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Keletso Sifama rounded the scoring as Sekhukhune United thrashed Swallows 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at Dobsonville Stadium.

Phiri got the opener for Sekhukhune with 11 minutes on the clock and the Birds levelled matters on the stroke of half-time.

Samkele Sihlali restored the lead for Babina Noko just after the hour-mark and Sifama put the game to bed in stoppage time.

Cape Town Spurs 1-2 Richards Bay

Richards Bay had a winning start in 2024 after edging Cape Town Spurs 2-1 on Sunday morning at UWC Sports Stadium.

Olwethu Nzimande broke the deadlock for Richards ten minutes before the break and Spurs equalised five minutes later.

However,Gazu Thandoluhle found the winner for the Natal Rich Boyz five minutes before time.

TS Galaxy 5-0 Polokwane City

Polokwane City could not stop the losing streak in the new year, after they suffered their tenth consecutive defeat with a 5-0 drubbing by TS Galaxy on Sunday afternoon at Tsakane Stadium.

Galaxy went ahead on 19 minutes, Daanyaal Daya doubled their lead on the half-hour mark and Lindelani Buthelezi put them out of reach on the stroke of halt-time.

The Rockets ran riot 11 minutes into the second stanza as Daya made it 4-0 and completed his brace and Siphesihle Mazibuko made it 5-0 in stoppage time.
