Chiefs Blow Chance To Overtake Sundowns

Chiefs Blow Chance To Overtake Sundowns

SuperSport United 1-0 Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs were unable to secure a fourth straight win in the DStv Diski Challenge after a 1-0 defeat to SuperSport United on Saturday afternoon at Giant Stadium.

Thabang Makubo broke the deadlock for SuperSport ten minutes before the half-time break with a free-kick that left goalkeeper Lungile Nkosi flat-footed.

Amakhosi found the back of the net three minutes later but their goal was disallowed for offside.

Vela Khumalo's charges had plenty of chances in the closing stages but could not take them as they missed a chance to overtake Mamelodi Sundowns in third spot on the table.

Golden Arrows 2-0 Cape Town Spurs

Golden Arrows won their second game in three matches after beating Cape Town Spurs 2-0 on Saturday morning at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.

Sphiwe Nkabinde opened the scoring for Arrows within the first 11 minutes and doubled their lead and completed his brace on the stroke of half-time.

Richards Bay 1-3 Chippa United

Nine-man Richards Bay's five-game winning streak came to an end after a 3-1 defeat to Chippa United on Saturday morning at Chatsworth Stadium.

Ntlonelo Bomelo got the opener for Richards Bay midway into the first stanza but the hosts were reduced to ten men on the hour-mark after Thandoluhle Gazu was red-carded and Chippa equalised moments later.

The Chilli Boys went ahead with 16 minutes remaining and the Natal Rich Boyz suffered another blow, as they were down to nine men four minutes later after Thabiso Dlamini was sent off.

United did not let Richards Bay off the hook, as they sealed the three points with their third goal eight minutes before time.

Moroka Swallows 0-0 Cape Town City

Moroka Swallows halted a seven-game losing run after playing to a goalless draw against Cape Town City on Saturday morning at Dobsonville Stadium.

Swallows, though, have not won since November last year, only their second win of the season while City could not get back-to-back victories.

TS Galaxy 0-0 Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch leapfrogged Orlando Pirates at the top of the table despite a goalless draw against TS Galaxy on Saturday afternoon at Giant Stadium.

Stellies extended their unbeaten run to 13 matches, as they jumped above Pirates by a point at the top of the log, although the Buccaneers have a game in hand on Sunday against rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.
