Bragging Rights: Chiefs Silence Pirates In Soweto Derby

Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 Orlando Pirates

Kaizer Chiefs climb to second spot on the DStv Diski Challenge table after coming from behind to defeat to Orlando Pirates 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.

The clash was supposed to be played two weeks ago but had to be postponed due to the inclement weather at Dobsonville Stadium.

The Amakhosi were without star forward Neo Bohloko, who is on duty with the South African national under-17 team.

After a scoreless first half, the Buccaneers took the lead in the 74th minute courtesy of a well-taken finish from Matlou Spale.

Chiefs were back on level terms two minutes later as Aden McCarthy restored parity after converting a penalty.

Dillon Sheppard's charges went to get the winning goal in second-half stoppage time as Nkosana Mbuthu slotted home at the far post after Pirates failed to clear a corner.

The win takes Chiefs up to second spot, two points behind league leaders Stellenbosch FC while the Buccaneers will end the year in eighth spot.

SuperSport United 1-0 Sekhukhune United

SuperSport United continued their impressive form by defeating Sekhukhune United in the final game of the year.

The game was seemingly headed for a draw until Manelis Mazibuko popped up with the winning goal for the Tshwane outfit.

SuperSport have now clinched five wins in their last six encounters, While Babina Noko suffer back-to-back losses to end the year.

The victory takes SuperSport up to fourth spot spot, while Sekhukhune remain in ninth position.
