Chiefs Remain Top Despite Stalemate, Downs Close The Gap

Kaizer Chiefs barely held on to top spot after a goalless draw against Stellenbosch on Sunday afternoon at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Chiefs' lead at the top of the standings was reduced to just one point.

AmaZulu 0-1 Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns climbed up to second on the table after a narrow 1-0 win over AmaZulu on Sunday afternoon at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Khumo Mokoele broke the deadlock for Sundowns on the stroke of half-time and that was enough to secure a second win in a row.

The Brazilians reduced the deficit behind leaders Kaizer Chiefs to just one point.

Orlando Pirates 0-0 Magesi

Orlando Pirates dropped points for the second consecutive game after they were held to a goalless draw by Magesi on Saturday morning at Isak Steyl Stadium.

After dropping points for the second successive game, Pirates dropped down to seventh on the standings, although they are just four points behind log-leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

Sekhukhune United 5-1 Chippa United

Sekhukhune United won back-to-back matches for the first time after hammering Chippa United 5-1 on Saturday morning at Sturrock Park.

Kearabilwe Mphahlele scored four goals for Sekhukhune while the other goal for Babina Noko was scored by Njabulo Mndebele.

Richards Bay 3-0 Cape Town City

Richards Bay won their second game in succession after a resounding 3-0 win over Cape Town City on Saturday morning at Chatsworth Stadium.

Sithembiso Makhaye gave Richards Bay an early lead, doubled their advantage and got his brace just before the interval.

Wandile Ngema secured the three points with the third goal for the Natal Rich Boyz five minutes from the break.

Polokwane City 3-1 Golden Arrows

Polokwane City won their first game of the season after beating Golden Arrows 3-1 on Sunday morning at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Lesiba Mello broke the deadlock for Polokwane on the stroke of half-time and Samukele Mlaba levelled matters for Arrows early in the second stanza.

Mello restored the lead for Rise and Shine, got his brace early in the second stanza and put the game beyond Abafana Bes'thende with 19 minutes to go and also completed his hat-trick.
