September joined Chippa with Kopo early this year and together they led the club to a 12th place finish, five points away from the top eight. This season, the Eastern Cape based club started well and have been in the top five for some time, but they have recently dropped out of the top eight, with results not going their way.
"Chippa United FC confirm that coach Kwanele Kopo will be stepping down as head coach as his contract officially comes to an end at midnight tonight," the club said in a statement.
Chippa, meanwhile, confirmed who will be September's assistant going forward.
