Former Cape Town Spurs head coach Shaun Bartlett could have made things worse for himself with his comments after a 3-1 loss to Cape Town City in the Ikapa derby.
Spurs officially parted ways with Bartlett after announcing the coach's exit on their social media platforms, adding that the parties "mutually agreed to terminate the head coach's contract with immediate effect".

The Urban Warriors lost their seventh successive game since the start of the season after going down 3-1 against local rivals the Citizens on Saturday.
Following the loss, Bartlett spoke of the club's lack of movement in the transfer market, after suggesting that his struggles are like asking a chef to put on a great dish without ingredients.
"It's like you're asking a chef to put on a great dish but you don't give him the ingredients. It's difficult my friend, that's the major concern at this moment in time," Bartlett told the media in a press conference.
The former Bafana Bafana striker was also surprisingly not begging to be in charge of Spurs after saying that he chose the job and it was not given to him, something that also may not have gone down well with the management at the Cape Town-based side.
"As a club, we've got to look at what is the problem in this moment in time. It's easy to say it's me, I'll take the responsibility, it's not an issue, that's why I chose this job, nobody gave the job to me, I chose it," he continued.

"And it's a thankless job because next week when we win the game all the players will get the praise and I'll be pushed aside.
"There's a lot of things I cannot say in public, because there's a few things that's obviously around the squad that's not going the way it's supposed to be or people that's not available, but it's things that obviously need to be sorted internally. Unfortunately I can't disclose all the information that's happening," he added.
Spurs' next game is against SuperSport United in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday at Athlone Stadium before the international break.
