Yanga extended their record as the most successful side in Tanzanian Premier League history when their 4-2 win over Dodoma Jiji ensured them their 29th top-flight title.
Nasreddine Nabi's men did it in dramatic fashion, too, as two late goals from Faridi Mussa and Mudathir Yahya Abbas saw them win the league for a second successive season.
Last season, Young Africans ended Simba's four-year dominance by winning the title, and now in 2022/23 see themselves with successive league triumphs for the first time since their 2015/16 and 2016/17 victories.
The Reds of Msimbazi trail their crosstown rivals by seven points and now also trail Yanga's league title tally by seven too.
With the Tanzanian Premier League trophy in the bag, Yanga will now shift their focus to the CAF Confederation Cup.
The newly-crowned champions will arrive in South Africa with a two-goal advantage in their semi-final against Gallants. Goals from Stephane Aziz Ki and former Orlando Pirates man Bernard Morrison in the first leg sees the Tanzanians being just 90 minutes away from a continental final.
