The Red Devils claimed an important away victory over the Tunisian side in the first leg of their CAFCL semi-final, in which the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns forward struck twice.
Emad Meteb, a former Ahly player, was impressed by what he saw from the 29-year-old, whom he believes has been able to reach a high level due to being back to his best physically.
"The game was tough in the beginning, but as a player, you can make it easy. [Ahly manager Marcel] Koller and the players focused today and took advantage of the mistakes," he said, according to KingFut.
"The second goal killed the game, and Al Ahly could have scored more. Koller dealt with the game smartly, knowing that he was facing a big team, and succeeded in exploiting the conditions of the opponent.
"Koller is in touch with the players and rotates them without any difference between the starters and the substitutes. Any player who participates feels like he is always playing, and this is an advantage for the coach, and credit should be given to players who prove themselves.
"Continuity of Percy Tau playing and maintaining his physical fitness and avoiding injuries made him perform at this level.
"Tau is currently in full fitness and full artistic performance. He scored two goals today and played an important role on the field. These are advantages that should be credited to the coach who dealt with him well and with all the players.
"The current generation has the ability to achieve what happened in 2005 and 2006, 2007 and 2008, four consecutive finals, Al Ahly won three of them, and I hope that the team wins this year."
