CAF Confederation Cup

Result: TP Mazembe 2-2 SuperSport United

Date: 04 June 2017

Venue: Stade T.P Mazembe

Amajita star, Teboho Mokoena bagged a goal and an assist to help SuperSport United come from behind to secure a 2-2 draw with CAF Confederation Cup champions, TP Mazembe.

The hosts threatened early on and should have taken the lead after four minutes but Ben Malango blazed over the crossbar with only Reyaad Pieterse to beat.

SuperSport, on the other hand, struggled get their game going as they failed to threaten the home side's goal.

Mazembe eventually broke the deadlock in the 26th minute as Reneilwe Letsholonyane carelessly lost possession and gifted the ball to Tresore Mputu, who played in Malango with a well-weighted pass and striker slotted home with ease, 1-0.

Five minutes later, the hosts doubled their lead as Rainford Kalaba latched onto a ball over the top and rifled home a first-time finish from the 18-yards out.

However, SuperSport hit back moments later as Aubrey Modiba collected a pass from Mokoena, before calmly slotting into the bottom corner from close range.

The visitors started seeing a bit more of the ball as the half went on, and they could have leveled matters in the 40th minute but Letsholonyane blazed over from close range.

Mazembe should have restored their lead five minutes into the second half, but Mputu managed to head over the crossbar from six-yards out.

Reyaad Pieterse then came to SuperSport's rescue on 60 minutes, as he produced a fine save to keep out a fine free-kick.

SuperSport then leveled matters in the 66th minute as an un-marked Mokoena headed home Thabo Mnyamane's cross at the far post.

Kaitano Tembo opted for his first change after 82 minutes as Bradley Grobler made way for Kingston Nkhatha as they looked to snatch a win.

However, it was the home side who pushed for a winner in the closing stages and they should have secured the win in the 89th minute but Adama Traore blazed over from close range.

Nonetheless, the South African outfit managed to see out the closing stages to clinch a point on the road.

Here's how they lined up:

SuperSport: Pieterse, Kekana, Daniels, Gould, Bhasera, Furman, Letsholonyane, Mokoena, Mnyamane, Modiba (Booysen 89'), Grobler (Nkhatha 82').
