2018/19 Caf Champions League runners-up Wydad Casablanca will return to court over the controversial outcome of the last season's final, which resulted in the title being awarded to Esperance.

Esperance were crowned African champions in May after their Moroccan opponents abandoned the match by controversially refusing to continue playing after a dispute regarding the VAR system.
Caf later ordered that the match between the two sides be replayed, which prompted both clubs to lodge complaints with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas). Cas ultimately ruled that the football governing body did not have the authority to order such a replay, effectively confirming Esperance's claim to the title.

On Monday, however, Wydad president Said Naciri confirmed that they would be referring the matter back to Cas as they were permitted to do by the Caf statute before 25 September.
"We will defend our rights until the end. For two months we have been fighting this 'oppression'. Esperance don't deserve to win the cup in the way we witnessed in Rades," Naciri told BBC Sport.
