South Africa will have representatives in one of the eagerly-awaited CAF Champions League matches this month.
As Raja Club Athletic of Morocco will take on Espérance Sportive de Tunis on November 30, South African referee Victor Gomes will be officiating the clash.
Gomes will be assisted by his countryman Zakhele Siwela, as well as Souru Phatsoane from Lesotho, as confirmed by the South African Football Association, with another Mzansi official Eugine Mduli set to serve as the fourth official.
"After officiating at the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2019 in Brazil, seasoned South African referee Victor Gomes is back on the African soil and will head the delegation of match officials for the CAF Champions League match between Raja Club Athletic of Morocco versus Tunisia's E.S.T. This match will be played on 30 November 2019," SAFA confirmed in a statement on their official website.
"Gomes will be assisted by seasoned Zakhele Siwela as 1st Assistant Referee and Souru Phatsoane from Lesotho as 2nd Assistant Referee. The fourth official for this potentially mouth-watering encounter will be another South African, Eugine Mduli. Oumar Diop – Commissioner Senegal, Gamal Gandour – Referee Assessor Egypt, Alexander Sakyi Asante – General Coordinator Ghana.
