The Brazilians were eliminated from the CAF Champions League quarterfinals, after losing to Wydad Athletic Club in a penalty shootout in the second-leg on Saturday, September 23.

Speaking in a post-match press-conference in Morocco, Head Coach Mosimane congratulated the Wydad Casablanca side, however believes that Masandawana's chances of progressing further in the competition were lost in the first-leg which took place in Pretoria on September 17.

"I have to give them credit, in the first 45 minutes they really showed that they want to win. I think we played very well, we came here not to sit back, we played to attack and unfortunately, football, penalties anyone can win," Mosimane told the media after his defeat to the Moroccan side.

"But, congratulations to Wydad, I think we lost the game in Pretoria, not here. In Pretoria we had three balls, with the referee saying it's off-side, it's not off-side, and you saw the match. But, we understand and congratulations. I regret the game in Pretoria, it is very sad. It is very sad for football, three situations of off-side - three," the coach added.
