Bidvest Wits have never reached the group stags of a CAF tournament before, but they are just two ties away from achieving it in 2018 if they can put on a performance.
Gavin Hunt's side was knocked out in the first round of the CAF Champions League by eventual runners-up, Al Ahly, this year despite a battling performance in Braamfontein and this time around they have an easier draw on their hands as they target a group stage spot.
Wits already know that their first hurdle will be Mauritian champions, Pamplemousses SC, whom they will face in February next year, but they have also managed to avoid any of the seeded teams in the first round.

Should the Clever Boys make it past the preliminary round, then they face a trip to either Angolan giants, Clube Desportivo 1º de Agosto, or FC Platinum from Zimbabwe. Those two clubs will do battle as they too look to progress.
While Wits will be away for the decisive leg of their preliminary game against Pamplemousses, they will be at home for the second stanza of the first round should they manage to make it that far.
Unlike the years prior to 2017, just two teams stand in the way of Wits and a group stage spot, and Hunt will be eager to let Wits proof their worth on the continent this year having won all domestic trophies available to him.
