Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has proposed a series of high-profile friendly matches for the team when they prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations.
The proposal is believed to include teams from North Africa, Europe, and South America. Insiders close to SAFA have indicated that the coach's proposed opponents feature Brazil and Argentina from South America; and France, Belgium, and Spain from Europe; along with African giants like Egypt.

"The proposal from the coach is already with the technical director. They are looking at it. He tendered the proposal even before he left for the holidays. I know some of the teams in the proposal are Brazil, Argentina, France and Egypt. There could be more but he wants these ones as priorities as they could give them good competition ahead of the AFCON in Morocco next year. That's what the coach wants," the Siya source stated.
A second insider mentioned that Broos is aiming to schedule these friendlies during June and July 2025 period, coinciding with the FIFA Club World Cup hosted in the USA, where Mamelodi Sundowns will compete.
"He wants to test the team without Sundowns players. He wants tough opponents where he plays without Sundowns players and to see how the team could perform and that is why he has proposed that those games be played during that time. He wants the games between June and July and to see how they can perform without Sundowns' players against difficult opposition," the second insider stated.

Soccer Laduma contacted SAFA Media Officer Mninawa Ntloko for a comment on these opposition options. However, Ntloko mentioned that he couldn't provide detailed information as the coach is currently in Belgium.
"The coach only returns back to South Africa next year. So, we cannot be talking about friendly matches without him being back to shed more light," Ntloko told Soccer Laduma.
