TotalSPORTEK have claimed that FC Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is the highest paid player in the league on £500 000 (R9.1 million) a week, which is more than double what the highest earning defender in the Spanish division gets.
Los Blancos captain Sergio Ramos is the defender who earns the most in La Liga, with the Spanish international said be earning £200 000 (R3.6 million) weekly.
Barca veteran Gerard Pique is said to be on a weekly wage of £165 000 (R2.9 million), while Atletico Madrid's Diego Godin reportedly earns £144 000 (R2.6 million) a week.
Argentine and Blaugrana defender Javier Mascherano is reportedly on £130 000 (R2.3 million) a week, while there are three defenders who follow the former Liverpool player, and they are Barca's Jordi Alba, and Real's Raphael Varane and Marcelo, who are all said to be earning a weekly wage of £100 000 (R1.8 million) in Spain, according to totalSPORTEK.
