A Ligue 1 star who is a teammate of Keagan Dolly's has been rushed to an intensive care unit in France after contracting the coronavirus, becoming the first footballer from France's top flight to test positive for the deadly disease.
On Monday, reports circulating in France suggested that a Ligue 1 player had been hospitalised after testing positive for the coronavirus, with L'Equipe having since revealed that player to be Montpellier's Junior Sambia.
Montpellier have since given an official update on Sambia's condition and, while they do not refer to him by name, revealed that his health has deteriorated after he suffered from "digestive and respiratory problems".
As a result, the 23-year-old midfielder was moved to an ICU ward on Thursday evening, where he will receive specialist treatment.
Sambia is the first player in Ligue 1 to test positive for the coronavirus, which has claimed more than 20 000 lives across France to date.
