'It Must Annoy Cristiano Ronaldo That They Call Me "The Real Ronaldo"'

Despite Cristiano Ronaldo being one of football's greatest-ever players, he still finds himself fighting for "ownership" of his name with Ronaldo Nazario. The Brazil legend has now opened up on the comparisons between them!

Ronaldo Nazario, known during his playing days simply by his first name, was one of the world's most prolific goalscorers during the late 1990s and early 2000s, leading Brazil to the 2002 FIFA World Cup title and starring for the likes of PSV Eindhoven, Inter Milan, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, among others.

The end of his career roughly coincided with the birth of Cristiano Ronaldo's rise, with the Portugal international having since become one of football's all-time greats following spells with Manchester United, Real Madrid and current side Juventus.

Due to the obvious similarities in their names, comparisons have been made between the two greats over the years, with sections of Nazario's fanbase, as well as that of Lionel Messi's, referring to the Brazil legend as "the real Ronaldo".

The 43-year-old, who is now the owner of LaLiga side Real Valladolid, has opened up on the comparisons between himself and the five-time Ballon d'Or winner, and praised his counterpart for what he has achieved in his career thus far.

"It must be annoying for Cristiano when they say that I am the real Ronaldo," Nazario said, per AS.

"People cannot be compared. Cristiano will remain in the history of football for the goals and for the continuity he has achieved. He will remain one of the best. He, as Messi, like others."
