The tournament was initially planned for 2020, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, it will now take place later in 2021, even though its official name, "Euro 2020", has remained intact after tons of marketing material was created by the time it was officially postponed.
Despite several concerns due to the pandemic, UEFA will go ahead and host the tournament across various countries after eight of the 12 host cities confirmed they will be able to welcome fans in the stands.
Host associations had been asked to submit plans to accept fans by 7 April, but four cities – Munich, Rome, Bilbao and Dublin – were unable to confirm whether or not spectators would be allowed under current COVID-19 regulations. They now have until 19 April to confirm if they can host fans, otherwise UEFA might replace them.
Meanwhile, London, Glasgow, Copenhagen, Saint Petersburg, Budapest, Baku, Amsterdam and Bucharest have confirmed they will allow fans into the grounds for the showpiece.
Budapest is aiming to host spectators at full capacity, while Baku and St Petersburg have confirmed 50% capacity, with the latter hoping to increase this number, according to BBC Sport.

Amsterdam, Bucharest, Copenhagen and Glasgow are aiming for a minimum capacity of 25% to 33%, while England confirmed they will aim to fill Wembley with 25% in the three group-stage games and hope to increase this number for the semi-finals and final.
"UEFA wishes to express its appreciation to its member associations and the national and local authorities who are collaborating closely in ensuring the safe return of spectators to the stadium," European football's governing body said in a statement.
