Manchester City have confirmed that Pep Guardiola's mother has passed away after contracting coronavirus.

The Citizens released a statement via their official Twitter account explaining that Dolors Sala Carrio, 82, passed away in Barcelona.
"The Manchester City family are devastated to report the death today of Pep's mother Dolors Sala Carrio in Manresa, Barcelona, after contracting coronavirus. She was 82 years old," the statement read.
"Everyone associated with the club sends their most heartfelt sympathy at this most distressing time to Pep, his family and all their friends."

Spain is one of the countries that is worst affected by COVID-19, with 135 032 confirmed cases and more than 13 000 deaths to date.
