After some messy in-house disagreements, new Free State Stars coach Tom Saintfiet may be leaving the club before he's taken charge of a single game.
Saintfiet would like to name Kinnah Phiri as his assistant, but the higher-ups at Stars are pushing for Duncan Lechesa to be named as his right-hand man.
This is very concerning for us fans. For Saintfiet to leave after such a short spell in charge (he was named the new coach just last week) would obviously cause disruption and hurt the club's reputation.
But then again, if Saintfiet is already disagreeing with the Stars management, perhaps it's for the best that we just cut our losses. It is a real shame, however, considering the Belgian's wealth of experience. It's been reported, however, that Lechesa is on his way to Royal Eagles in Durban and that Saintfiet may stay on after all.
For Ea Lla Koto fans, this hiccup will be cause for concern, but let's just hope that these are just growing pains.
