The often vocal Mbalula took to his twitter account where he declared that South Africa is not the 'Big Brother of Africa' and therefore does not have to shoulder the responsibility of hosting next year's edition of the biennial football tournament having hosted it in 2013 and, also cited the Ebola threat which has threatened the status of the 2015 AFCON.
"South Africa is not the Big Brother of Africa thus we won't be hosting #AFCON year after year..." tweeted Mbalula.
"Hosting AFCON next year is a NO NO," he further declared on the social network.
As reported by the crew, Morocco had requested the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to consider postponing the event due to the Ebola epidemic that has swept throughout parts of sub-Saharan Africa.
CAF has responded by announcing an executive meeting in which its executive members will convene in Algiers on November 3 to discuss the request from Morocco and make its final decision on whether or not to stage the 2015 AFCON showpiece which is scheduled to commence in January.
Several countries and FA's have been requested by CAF, including South Africa to be on standby should the North Africans withdraw from hosting the event.
The South African Football Assocation (SAFA) recently declared in an emergency press conference that they will await the decision made by CAF.
