
South Africa's U20s Have Been Drawn Against Nigeria

South Africa and Nigeria have met on plenty of occasions over the course of 2018, and now – in February – they will be facing off once more in a competitive fixture. Read: Middendorp Earmarks Chiefs' Mphahlele Replacement Bafana Bafana were drawn against the Super Eagles in their African Cup of Nations qualifying group ahead of next year's tournament, and managed a 1-1 draw with them last month to keep their hopes alive. Meanwhile, Banyana Banyana came up against the Super Falcons in the Women's Africa Cup of Nations, beating them 1-0 in the group stages before slipping to a penalty shootout defeat against them in the final of the competition. South Africa's U20 women played their Nigerian counterparts in a FIFA U20 Women's World Cup qualifier back in January – losing 8-0 on aggregate – and now the men's U20 group have been drawn against them in the U20 African Cup of Nations. Thabo Senong's side managed to claim victory in the U20 COSAFA Cup this week thanks to a penalty shootout victory over Zimbabwe, and will now turn their attention to their trip to Niger in February. Senong's team have been drawn against Nigeria, Burundi and the hosts, and they will all be fully aware of the fact that a top-four finish in the competition will see them reach the 2019 U20 World Cup in Poland in May.
