"I try to do the maximum to be one of the greats like Drogba and Eto'o," Aubameyang toldBBC Sport.
I don't feel any pressure to be like them, but there is maybe a level of expectation around me, when people expect great things from you, you try to do great things."
After setting his side up for victory, Aubameyang was asked whether he has learnt anything from his last AFCON and also touched on Gabon's target for this year.
"That penalty I missed against Mali in the quarter-final, even if I missed it, remains a good memory for me because it made me grow up," he added.
"For this competition, we are starting from scratch. It's a new tournament and it has begun well for me with a goal.
"I hope we reach the quarter-finals again this time, and if we get another penalty then I will score it."
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has made 25 appearances for his club side Borussia Dortmund so far this season and has scored 11 goals, while assisting in seven more.
