Elephants head coach, Hervé Renard, named a strong starting line-up, which included the likes of Yaya Toure, Wilfried Bony, Gervinho and Cheick Tiote.

The scores were level at the halftime break but it was the Swedes who took the lead in the 65th minute, courtesy of a strike from Helsingborg's Johan Maartensson.

Substitute Seydou Doumbia was presented with an opportunity to level matters for his side in the 73rd minute but the CSKA Moscow striker failed to turn home Max-Alain Gradel's cross.

Sweden then sealed the win in the 87th minute, as Marcus Rohden turned home Niklas Bärkroth's cross to seal a win for locally-based Swedish side.

The Elephants get their 2015 Afcon campaign underway with a clash against Guinea on January 20, before taking on Mali and Cameroon.
