FIFA World Cup Qualifier
Result: Swailand 0-0 Nigeria
Date: 13 November 2013
The Super Eagles of Nigeria could only walk away with a solitary point after being held by Swaziland to a goalless draw on Friday evening.
The hosts had a bright start to the clash with their striker having a 30-yard strike sail just over the bar with less than ten minutes on the clock. The game was well balanced in the opening exchanges as both sides went forward in search of the opener.
Ikeme was the busier of the two 'keepers and was called into action producing a stunner of a save in the 23rd minute to keep the host nation in the game.
The Super Eagles began to gain some momentum as the half progressed, and should have scored in the 28th minute when Onazi's free-kick was well saved with Moses Simon missing the rebounded effort as well.
Nigeria continued to press but 0-0 is how the teams headed into the break.
The visitors started the second stanza on a positive once again, and Moses came agonizingly close in the 56th minute when his free-kick rocketted off the woodwork before being cleared by the Swaziland defence.
The Nigerians were looking a class above their opponents in the second half but the defence was determined to keep them out, and after countless attacks, the referee would blow the full-time whistle to signal the end of the match and sharing of the spoils.
