Two second half goals from Mohamed Ali Moncer and Heldon Nhuck saw Tunisia and Cape Verde play to a 1-1 draw in their 2015 African Cup of Nations, Group B match at the Nuevo Estadio de Ebebiyin on Sunday night.
Cape Verde started very positively and had their first chance on goal in the second minute when Fernando Varela met a left wing cross with a powerful header, but saw his effort strike the right-hand post.
Tunisia came into the game after that and had their first attempt on goal in the 15th minute when Ahmed Akaichi met a right sided cross with a strong header, but the Cape Verde keeper produced a good diving save to deny him.
Four minutes later Cape Verde's Kuca tried his luck from 22-yards out, but his low shot was brilliantly saved by the Tunisian keeper.
On the half hour mark a quick counter-attack from Cape Verde saw Heldon Nhuck break behind the defence and play Djaniny into space, but his shot from 14-yards out was thwarted by the keeper.
The half ended 0-0.
Tunisia started the second half the better of the two sides and came close to opening the scoring in the 63rd minute when Yassine Chikhaoui met a right-sided free-kick with a good header, but he saw his attempt from six-yards out strike the crossbar.
Seven minutes later, though, and Tunisia did take the lead when Mohamed Ali Moncer turned home a low left-sided cross from six-yards out, 1-0.
Cape Verde were afforded the perfect opportunity to lev el matters in the 77th minute when Heldon Nhuck was brought down inside the box by Syam Ben Youssef and the referee pointed to the penalty spot.
Heldon Nhuck stepped up and made no mistake from the spot to draw the scores level, 1-1.
Both teams went for the win in the final ten minutes, but neither could find the goal to settle the tie as the match ended all-square.
