The crew have learnt that the 2015 African Cup of Nations will not be hosted by South Africa even though media reports have suggested that South Africa was one of three countries said to replace Morocco as hosts. after CAF stripped the North African nation of their rights to host the tournament and booted them out of the competition.

On Tuesday, November 11, CAF stripped Morocco off hosting rights after handing them an ultimatum to decide whether or not they will host the biennial tournament which commences on 17 January 2015 and subsequent to Morocco's stance in which they refused to host the event citing Ebola fears.
South African Football Association President Danny Jordaan neither ruled out nor affirmed that South Africa would step in as possible hosts stating that CAF has not contacted SAFA however the crew know that South Africa who hosted the tournament in 2013 and hosted the African Nations Championships in 2014 would not step in as hosts according to Siya sources inside the South African football governing body.

SAFA would need the approval and partnership of the South African government in order to host the AFCON, an unlikely probability following honourable Sports and Recreation Minister Fikile Mbalula who declared that South Africa is not the 'Big Brother' of the continent and therefore cannot shoulder the responsibility of hosting every major tournament.
Dr Danny Jordaan alluded to the fact that he would be in a better position to comment on SAFA standpoint on the 2015 AFCON on Thurday 13 November.
