On Tuesday evening, Barcelona beat Ligue 1 side Brest 3-0 in Europe's premier club competition to make it four straight wins in the tournament's league phase.
While the Blaugrana returning to winning ways would have been the prevailing storyline on any other occasion, this time it was not.
The victory at Estadi Olimpic in Montjuic saw Lewandowski score his 100th and 101st goals in the competition.
His brace against the French side means he becomes only the third player to reach a century of goals in the Champions League, after serial Ballon d'Or winners Ronaldo and Messi.
After the match, the Polish legend expressed how elated he was to reach such an auspicious landmark.
"I am very happy, very happy. 100 is a great figure. I didn't think I could score so many goals in the Champions League. But I think it's a big statement to say that I'm on the level of Ronaldo and Messi," Lewandowski told Movistar.
