Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard believes that Cristiano Ronaldo has turned the corner, and believes that last night's goal against Schalke will help him improve his poor start to 2015.
Ronaldo Levels Messi Raul Record In Europe
The Portuguese, who scored his first goal in a month, has struggled with form and fitness since winning his third Ballon d'Or crown in Zurich.
After seeing Ronaldo end his goal drought on Wednesday night, Lampard revealed that this moment could be the turning point for him, and explained that every footballer goes through these situations.
"We all have those patches in our careers, even the Ronaldos of this world do. When you are in that patch, sometimes you have to work through it," Lampard told Sky Sports.
"It can be a frustrating night where things don't come off but, when you've got that, and we always talk about his desire to be the best - that run for the goal against Schalke is desire.
"He's the only one who wants to get in the box, he knows how to do it, and he scores every type of goal. That could be a turning point for him."
Lampard also touched on Gareth Bale's situation at the club and believes that he is too much of a nice guy on the park at Real Madrid.
"I get the feeling from Gareth Bale that he's a nice boy," he added.
"There is a bit of ego and he should have ego because of what he's achieved so far in the game, but maybe, when you're a nice boy, there may be a moment there where you're thinking 'actually, shall I take it on? Shall I go at goal? Or shall I look for that other one in case I get criticised?'
"I hope that goes out of his game very quick because, if that is there, then all of a sudden it's going to affect him."
Lampard's Manchester City team take on Barcelona next week in their first leg of the Champions League Round of 16.
