According to reports in Spain, Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is looking to purchase a player who can "become a franchise" in the same way Cristiano Ronaldo had done in the past decade.
Per Spanish publication AS, the controversial figurehead has identified PSG wonderkid Mbappe as the only player capable of playing that role, and has made signing him in 2020 a priority for the club.
Real would face challenges in securing the 20-year-old's signature, though, as Les Parisiens are reluctant to sell despite the good relations between the two clubs.

PSG also reportedly value the France international at €300 million (R4.8 billion), a figure that would smash the world transfer record. It would also represent a significant outlay for Real, and put them at risk of falling short of Financial Fair Play Regulations.
Nonetheless, there is speculation Mbappe would be open to a move to Madrid, particularly due to his relationship with PSG boss Thomas Tuchel, which is said to have soured after the club's 5-0 UEFA Champions League win over Club Brugge.
The former AS Monaco striker was unhappy to have been named on the bench for the match and, despite scoring a hat-trick as a second-half substitute, voiced his frustration to the media in the aftermath.

Should he make the switch to the Santiago Bernabeu, Mbappe would join a number of Frenchmen at the club, including Ferland Mendy, Raphael Varane and Karim Benzema, as well as manager Zinedine Zidane.
