Despite sitting at the top of the LaLiga table and being the only unbeaten side in the competition, Real have come in for criticism for their lacklustre performances this season, particularly in the UEFA Champions League, having lost to Paris Saint-Germain and drew with Club Brugge.
According to Marca, Los Blancos are looking to bolster their squad in order to improve performances, and Paul Pogba remains Zinedine Zidane's primary target, but it appears impossible that a deal can be struck with Manchester United for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner's signature.

Real have accordingly turned their attention to alternative options, which include Ajax Amsterdam and Netherlands midfielder Donny van de Beek. The 22-year-old was close to moving to Madrid during the most recent transfer window, but the transfer was vetoed by Zidane, who insisted on signing Pogba. The Dutchman could now join the club in January.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen is another player who has been on Real's radar for some time, and the Denmark international could join the LaLiga giants for a cut-price fee at the turn of the year due to his Spurs contract expiring at the end of the season.
