According to Spanish publication Sport, the 15-time UEFA Champions League have struck a deal over personal terms to sign 16-year-old Argentine wonderkid Franco Mastantuono.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to Los Blancos since the start of 2024, with the club having successfully landed a number of South American talents in recent years.
Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, who will soon be joined by their Brazil international teammate Endrick, so far represent the best of Real's effective recruitment strategy.
The report claims the LALIGA champions could fork out €45 million (R888 million) Mastantuono, who is already playing for River Plate's first team.
That figure is reportedly the release clause that was included in latest contract at River that was renewed in April this year.
Chief scout for Real Madrid, Juni Calafat, is believed to have visited Mastantuono's homeland to hold direct discussions with River.
Should an agreement between the two clubs be reached, it was then be decided whether the teenager stays in Argentina on loan until he turns 18 or whether he joins Real immediately.

It is said that Mastantuono could move to Spain right away through his Italian ancestry, with non-Europeans, as per FIFA rules, only allowed to join LALIGA clubs at an adult age.
